Saw this beautiful idol of Goddess Sakhmet at the MET. Its one of the most sublime images ever

Goddess Sakhmet, 12th Century New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, Amenhotep III
A lion headed Goddess  , originally a warrior goddess, then believed to be the daughter of the Sun God, Eye of Ra, fiery destructive . Her name means The Mighty One. Its said that her breath created the desert.
She was sent down by the Sun God to slay mortal plotting against him, and became so enthusiastic about her task that she near slew all of humanity, Re prevented this by tricking her into drinking large quantities of beer which had been coloured to look like blood. The intoxicated Goddess had to abandon slaughter and all of humanity was saved.  Also seen as a special goddess for women, ruling over menstruation.
